Search for missing swimmer in the River Mersey

Hoylake Lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard to assist in searching for a missing swimmer in the River Mersey. The lifeboat, RNLB 'Edmund Hawthorn Micklewood', launched at 10:35 and joined Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue Helicopter 936, NPAS Police Helicopter, New Brighton Lifeboat, RNLI Lifeguards North West and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service's Marine Fire 1 in searching for the casualty. Wirral & Crosby Coastguard Rescue Teams, Merseyside Police and Fire Service colleagues also conducted shoreline searches. Unfortunately the emergency services were unable to locate the casualty and all units were stood down at 15:10.
