Vessel on fire on moorings at Thurstaston

Hoylake Lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard at 3:43am to a vessel on fire on the small boat moorings in the River Dee at Thurstaston. When Hoylake's Shannon class lifeboat 'Edmund Hawthorn Micklewood' arrived on scene, the fire on the vessel was well-established. The RNLI crew used the lifeboat's salvage pump and fire hose to extinguish the fire but unfortunately the vessel was badly fire damaged and sank on its moorings. West Kirby Lifeboat were also on scene and conducted a search of the moorings and the shore line with colleagues from Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team. No persons were found and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
