Hovercraft tasked to reports of a person walking towards the sea

Hoylake Hovercraft was tasked by UK Coastguard to participate in a joint agency search after reports from a member of the public concerned about a person seen walking towards the sea. The lifeboat crew were brought to immediate readiness, pending further information, and after discussion with the Coastguard and Merseyside Police, the hovercraft was launched at 21:28pm. The four hovercraft crew searched the tideline of the East Hoyle Bank, while a Police Helicopter searched overhead. Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team also attended and set off white illuminating flares to assist with the search. After an extensive search of the tideline, no one was found and the Coastguard and Police agreed to stand all units down at 22:25pm.
