Hovercraft launched to casualty in the water off Leasowe

Hoylake Hovercraft was tasked to a casualty who had entered the water approximately 3/4 mile offshore at Leasowe. The hovercraft arrived on scene, where the casualty had been escorted from the water by Merseyside Police with support from the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team. The casualty, who was suffering the effects of the cold, and two police officers were brought on board the hovercraft and taken ashore to waiting Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service officers. The casualty was checked over and taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for further checks. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Marine Fire One were also in attendance.
