Hovercraft rescues a man and two dogs cut off by the tide off Meols

Following a 999 call from a member of the public, Hoylake's volunteer crew were tasked by the UK Coastguard to assist a man and two dogs who appeared to be cut off by the tide between Dovepoint and Barbers Folly in Meols.

Hoylake Hovercraft H-005 Hurley Spirit was launched at 11:52am and arrived on scene just 7 minutes later, following direction from the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team who had eyes on the casualty from Dovepoint slipway.

The tide was flooding and so with no time to lose the volunteer crew recovered the man and his pets on to the hovercraft and delivered them safely ashore to meet the waiting Coastguard officers.

With everyone safely ashore, the hovercraft returned to station to be made ready for her next service.
